Identifying Conventions of Posters - Conclusion

Having looked at a range of posters from different genres, I have noticed that the following conventions appear frequently.

Tagline - often indicating genre and/or narrative 

Title of the film - largest copy on poster 

Name of director

Names of key stars

Billing block - usually towards the bottom

Reviews and star ratings - often indicate genre 

Reference to awards/nominations 

Reference to other similar films by same director/producer/studio

Certificate/rating, release date, production company logos

Social media links/logos and website

Reference to merchandise

Reference to source material

Dominant central image

Reference to genre through mise-en-scene/iconography

Additional images
